As per existing the  Karnataka Government Servants (Medical Attendance) Rules, 1963 Government servants and their dependent family members are eligible for reimbursement of medical expenses for treatment taken in private empanelled hospitals notified by the State Government. The State Government has introduced in 2014-15 a new scheme – JYOTHI SANJEEVENI which provides for cashless treatment for the Government servants and their dependent family members  in empanelled private hospitals for medical treatment undergone for 7 identified Deadly Diseases i.e., Cardiac Surgery, Cancer, Neuro Surgery, Urology, Burns Polytrauma cases, Paediatric and Neo-Natal Surgeries. At present – 272 hospitals including 27 outside State Hospitals are  empanelled under this scheme. This scheme is funded by DPAR and implemented through Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust (SAST) coming under the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
